A little to know about me
Hello everyone. You may call me Arthur. I am a son of the Lord of the Dead. You may call him by many names: Hades, Death, Pluto, etc., etc., but to me, he is just Father. He sits on a throne of bones and looks over the proceedings of the land of the Dead.I have only one friend who dares to visit me here. She is not a great fan of the light, but she doesn't like the Underworld. She has a phobia for ghosts and outworldly creatures. I mean, undead creatures. Live skeletons and poltergeists, etc.. But of course, she isn't afraid of Cerberus. Oh no, the undead she's scared of, but not a three-headed, monster-sized dog. Nope. Completely unafraid. Nut.
But then again, she's the only friends I've got, so I guess I shouldn't curse her much.
But besides having a very, very odd fear, she's the nicest person ever. I mean, the nicest person I've ever met. And I've not met many people. But I doubt I'll kow many people who are as nice as she is.
The way we met was pretty odd. I was walking around the edges of the underword which were closer to the surface of the earth, that day. Father always warned me never to set foot outside, for if I did, I would meet mortal people, possibly fall in love with a beautiful mortal girl, get my heart broken or be compelled to stay in the world above forever. I know, it doesn't sound like a sin, but the way my Father said it made me shudder at the prospect of falling in love and had always made me do so, untill I met her.
Anyway, I was walking and then I heard a noise to my right. The noise came from within the cave-like structure of the earth around me. There was a shreik and a thud and all was quiet, save my breathing and the fall of mud. Slowly, I pulled the mud out of it's lodging place and dug towards the source of the noise. It wasn't hard as the mud was pretty soft and the source of the noise was close at hand. Soon, I came across a rublle of sand which had collapsed in on itself. In it's midst, I spotted a girl. The first thought was that this was a being from the world above and that I should just let her be.
But, for some reason, I couldn't just leave her. So, I crouched by her fallen shape. Her eyes were closed and she was covered with sand. I looked above and saw the night sky twinkling with billions of stars. It was a new moon that night, so visibility was less.
At last, I picked her up, ignoring the tingling sensation in my gut , and climbed out of the underworld.
The night was bright despite the lack of moonlight and the stars were low. I lay her on the ground and looked at her closely for the first time. Her black hair was tied up in a pony-tail and her eyes were snapped close delicately. Her fingers were long and she was thin. Not scrawny, haven't-been-fed-lately thin. She was a tall, athletic thin. Her hair was still coated with sand and I was brushing it off when her eyes fluttered open. The first thing I registered were her dark-chocolate coloured eyes. Then I registered the look of shock on her face. She jumped up, still staring at me and ran, screaming "Vampire! Vampire!" Really, untill she said it, I never knew I was unearthly pale. Her skin was just a percky peach and I had forgotten I wasn't exposed to sunlight.
So, I just sat down on the grass, waiting for her to stop screaming and running in circles. Eventually she did. Out of tiredness or because of the fact that she didn't know where she was, I don't know. But she stopped and dropped her hands. Most of the sand had fallen out of her hair. She looked around and the, slowly, fearfully, she turned back to look at me. I met her gaze and held it. Slowly she walked towards me, her arms rubbing her shoulders. She stopped close enough to judge me, but far enough to start running away if I pounced on her. She peered at me, and eventually descided I wasn't a vamire or any other demented creature, because she sat down right next to me.
"It would have been cool if you were a vampire!" she exclaimed, looking up.
"Weren't you just running around, screaming?" I asked. Weird girl, I thought.
"Yeah," said she. "But I've never met a vampire before, and even though I might have died, it would have given me great pleasure to know mythical creatures exist." She then turned to look at me, and smiled. That smile kinda burnt away all my Father's warnings. "I'm Arian, by the way. " She held out her hand.
I took it slowly and shook it. "I'm Arthur."
She nodded and pulled her hand back. "Nice to meet you Arthur. Where are you from? The North Pole?"
"Ha-ha" I replied drily. Ok, maybe I lived underground, but I knew what she was talking about. "No," I said. "I live in the underworld."
Her face was a mask of surprise and disbelief. But soon, I convinced her that I lived in the realm of the Dead. I did it by summoning an undead warrior and she screamed her head off. After that I knew better than to summon any undead creature in front of her. Soon, we became quite aquainted with each other and she paid frequent visits to my home. Father doesn't know yet, but the day he does is not going to be pleasent.
I am 16 now. Two years older than the age I was when I met Ari. And she's 16 now, too. We're really good friends and I know she'll stand with me through anything.
That is all I have to say. Thank you for visiting me.
