We need to get off oil. They are "flaring" off the natural gas (burning it at the well or refinery) because the oil is worth so much more. They aren't supposed to do it, but they do anyway. Natural gas is still good for heating homes, and can even run converted cars. But oil makes a bigger profit.

Oh, it's not all bad, just for 5 to 9 months of the year! xd
Less smelly than the coal or gas methods anyway. PU, the refinery is enough to make the skunks gag!

It's not the snow so much as it is the wind. It picks up granules of snow and ice which get ground into sharpness against other things. A hard wind can fling those with enough velocity to draw blood from tiny scratches. Or, the wind can pick up fine snow and create ground blizards which reduce visibility to less than 500 ft...and it can last for days.
On the plus side, we have a booming business in wind turbines. O_o

If you don't have a hobby in Wyoming, you'll go batshit before spring. O_o It amazes me what some of the people I know do to keep busy when it's nasty outside. Lots of quilters around here, also people who carve, paint, and make things like jewelry, leather purses and bags, jams and jellies, and fancy soaps and candles.

Glue stick. I'm serious! The barest touch from an acid-free glue stick holds the pieces that are too small to pin. A good soak in warm water afterwards takes it right back out. And a lot of what you see is reversed applique. I cut through the top, and put the piece I'm sewing in place under the hole, so it lies behind. That's how all they eyes are done, and the flame wings.
