WATARI
Watari a.k.a Quillish Wammy was a famous inventor who had established many orphanages on the properties that he acquired through his patents. He owned these world-wide orphanages and took all the super smart children back to Wammy's House Orphanage, where they were raised to be little genius detectives (the next L's).
Watari's main job was connecting L with other people. As Chief Yagami states “Watari is the only person who can contact L” Though more often than not he is seen sitting in the shadows at the NPA headquarters or behind a desk in L’s hotel room answering cell phone calls for L or scooping ice cream to satisfy the weary officers on the “Kira” case.
What became known as the “Kira” case was a number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals due to heart attacks. The ICPO concerned that these deaths were not merely a coincident quickly decide L is needed to solve this case and that’s when Watari makes his appearance. Cloaked in all black, Watari fools the police and surprises them when he reveals that he is just an old man. biggrin
