That. Is. Nonsense. I am very miserly when it comes to buying clothes. Unless it's handmade, of a certain expensive material, or very stylized to its look (lolita), I won't pay over a certain mark for an article of clothing. The only person I've met more niggardly than me when shopping is my aforementioned steampunk friend.

ARG! That's the most annoying thing about modern apparel. A simple pair of jeans should not cost twenty-five dollars, let alone the fifty-dollar pairs I've noticed in stores.

It's actually not that difficult. I remember balking when my mother attempted to teach me, but once I'd learned I wanted to sew everything. With disastrous results. Of course. But it's a good talent to have.

Herpderp. I have two brothers. One dresses kind of... I can't say, fobbish punk? The other dresses how I imagine Sebastian Michaelis would dress, if you know who that is. Very refined, but dark and Gothic. Not Tripp, not lolita, and not loads of chains and rips and fishnets or any of that sort of nonsense.
And I just don't possess the right sense of style to work steampunk appearances. It's a crying shame, because I adore the style, but I have a friend who dresses very steampunk and it's always inspiring to witness her outfits. Plus she has ridiculous amounts of gear. How do you dress in real life?

I think also you have to have the right face and sense of style. I shove too many frills and cutesy things in there even when I'm trying to make Steampunk. D:

I also love the formal, classy Goth style, not with the ripped up Tripp mess but things like my brother wears.
