Oh I forgot to mention in the PM, all the dreams he has are solely affected by his actions in real life. And iirc, I made Sophie a corrections officer? (I had originally wanted her to be a prison warden, but eh)

and yeh Jarrod began consulting with Sophie's clients after breaking into her home and reading their files. He then began stealing books from his library and selling them so he could bail the clients out so he would save them the trouble of going to jail, but in the end they all continued down their villainous path and his efforts were for nothing. This corrupted his mind and he vowed to never help another soul again. Then he opened a portal while dreaming that brought through all sorts of sorcery and evil through it which then ties into your and my characters.

No tonta did you not read wot I said. You devoted 1 arm for full power. That way you don't have to use 2 hands to hold the sword. You can swing around the 2-handed sword with just one arm. Whenever you'd defuse a spell, you'd just raise your index finger from the sword while still holding it to do so and point at the incoming spell. You're free hand would be when you climb things or to roll out of the way or you know, grab essentials during battle. You also have a holstered 6 shooter on your left side for that same purpose to use the free hand to pick off far away targets. They have crosses etched into the bullets to make it workable.

Well in my mind you would be the sword wielder most of the time so you maxxed out one arm for absolute control over the blade and spell-defusing.
