With a great big grin, Gamzee turned around once he got the last of the magnets affixed to the corner of Caliborn's picture on his thermal hull, and he hugged Calliope, kissing the top of her head.

Gamzee opened his eyes and looked at Calliope with a small frown. She always seemed to take the blame for all the terrible things that Caliborn did. Even now that they weren't occupying the same body, she took his blame, took his shame. It was heartbreaking to see. When she curled up beside him, Gamzee wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.

Gamzee drags his shot and dumbass self up towards a calming tree on a hill, still wearing the s**t-eating grin that got him plugged full of hot lead in the first place. He said his part to the evil twin, and now all he wants to do is make sure the good twin is doing well, herself.

He starts picking out bullets from his torso, walleyed and numb to the pain, his indigo blood staining his shirt and ruining his face paint, dripping from his chest and off his fingers as he deals with his grisly work.

Eridan wasn't above thinking that the Grand Highblood was capable of abuse that would terrify the young boy - in fact, he rather expected it - and held Cal's hand as he walked to one of the inner rooms without a window and only one exit that the light easily could be seen through the bottom of the door.

see its a safe place to be here an a lotta cozier places to hide than a dusty old linen closet he pointed out as he led to a comfortable chair and nodded at the door and the light shining underneath it as he lit a candle in the middle of the nearby table. an look you can see people comin evven before the door opens

Eridan was no stranger to painted smiles that hid frowns and he sighed slightly as he crouched down to look at the young little not-quite-human. The terror in Cal's tone, the look in his face, all spoke to him on a baser level. He put one hand out to offer a hand up and kept a reassuring smile - well, as close to one as his generally sour face allowed.

As he spoke, his tone was quiet, and he made no sudden moves towards Cal. The hand that he held out stayed a safe distance away, but still within reach. He knew how things worked.

Odd sounds weren't uncommon in Eridan's hive. He'd been moirails with Gamzee for nearly two sweeps now, and as such, had his highblooded friend over at odd hours, doing equally strange things while he slept. It was just something he was used to. But the peculiar noises were unlike any Gamzee usually made, so it made him stir from his sleep.

Having foregone the cocoon in lieu of a bed for purposes related to his moirail's mental and physical safety, Eridan sat up in his large bed and squinted out into the curtained dark of his room before reaching for his glasses and putting them on. He slipped out of his bed and towards the tapping, which led him to his closet in the hallway of the large shipwreck hive.

And there, he saw the puppet.

Sure, he was unnerved by the little s**t, but he was more concerned for the safety of his bedsheets than he was about the safety of his sanity. If he needed shooshpaps, they were a short walk away.
