I think so, but I know it's the reason why we use English the way we do today.

I think you'd remmeber reading the Prince. That book is so boring I couldn't get past the first 20 pages without getting a headache. He makes a lot of really great points, but Machiavelli's biographies are more interesting than his actual work.

I'll definitely add those to my list. No, I haven't, isn't it an interpretation of a French play? I could be wrong, I probably am.

I really really want to read the Cantebury Tales by Chaucer; it's fascinating to see where languages come from and it should be interesting to read the foundation of English.

Have you read any renaissanc eperiod literature? the Divine Comedy? the Prince?

That metaphysics book sounds interesting. Mostly because I've read up on the subject, but it's one of the most difficult concepts I've ever attempted to grasp. sweatdrop
I have a new respect for your major. A lot of people don't realise the amount of effort it takes to wrap your mind around some of that stuff, and I don't believe that some of the people who claim to be into truly understand it.

Oh, and I'm an English major, so if you want me to recommend books that have the English language in them, I'm your guy.~*

I don't blame you, winter vacation is long and boring. Have you read "The Critique of Pure Reason" by Immanuel Kant? I've just started getting into philosophy, so i thought I'd start on the stuff that directly shaped western culture. Do you recommend any other books of a similar nature?

I'm so bored because of the break that I decided to do a literary analysis on it for fun. After I'm done I'm going to write an essay on the thirty years' war.
