"Aside from my new discovery involving Inuyasha, the battles to test me, and being forced to look for a mate, I've come across a rumor spreading like wildfire recently.
It involves a dark priestess trying gain ultimate power and curiously it has nothing to do with the Shikon Jewel.
I decided to look deeper into the matter and it turns out that this priestess has actually found a way to revive father.

If I find her, then the castle and lands that father worked so hard to establish with be safe.
In theory, I shouldn't have to look for a mate then.
After all, I'm tying to take things one step at a time, as it is.

Right now, I need to inform Inuyasha and try to work on our relationship.
Otherwise, I won't be able to get over this cursed illness and continue getting worse...
I suppose I can kill two birds with one stone though, by doing this and searching for this dark priestess at the same time."

He then leaned his back against a nearby tree and closed his golden eyes slowly.

"Aside from you, I'm the only one that knows this....
Since I have no mate, it's only going to be a matter of time, before I'm tested again.
After all, 'no mate' is assumed to mean 'no heir'.
These sudden battles are irritating....

If I defeat the one sent after me, I'm granted an extension to find a mate.
However, if I fail, then I lose my home and my lands as well....
I can't afford to let that happen, being forced to look for a mate completely sickens me.
They always only want to extend their own territories and the fame that comes from the union.
Besides, I don't have the luxury of time right now to find one anyway between these debilitating symptoms and a new development I discovered."

It's just the timing of the whole matter is why things turned out the way they had.

Isn't it natural to have sake served, when you having an arranged conversation with someone to ease any potentially tense atmosphere?
I remember drinking sake with her because I was more than uncomfortable being in the same room as Izayoi.
After all, I wasn't the least bit understanding of father's infatuation with her.
She was drinking as well to be polite, so it's possible she had too much because I doubt she ever drank very often.
I can barely remember anything of that night, so it's possible we were both intoxicated.
After all, she didn't seem to recall anything the next day and had been as happy as usual, while around father.....

As for that earlier quip, monk....I am indeed aware of whom I mate with.
However, stress drinking is something VERY out of the ordinary for me, so I had far too much that night.", Sesshomaru clarified.

"Now then, I'd like to actually be able to finish my explanation...

A soft sigh left him, as he touched his finger tips to his forehead.

"I believe I have made the explanation too convoluted....
Allow me to try again in a more simpler approach."

Taking a breath to relax himself, he lowered his hand and began again.

"I'm the only one that's ill and the cause has been my negative relationship with Inuyasha.
Since we're at the point of essentially attempting to kill each other on sight, that rare illness has begun to take root in me.
It wasn't in effect before because, until now, I wasn't AWARE that Inuyasha's actually my son."

He decided to let that sink in for a while because he still had more to fill the monk in on.

He then nodded at seeing him stand straighter, seeming to appreciate that he was levelheaded and understood the seriousness of the situation, even before he gave any vital information.

"I'm going to explain this in parts, so I won't give you too much of a shock all at once.
After all, I can't have you potentially fainting, falling into the stream, and drown.
As you know, I had rather disturbing information that needed time to be verified.

For a while, I had been feeling rather strange.
When I decided to do some research in the castle library on what was causing my strange symptoms, I came across something rather startling.
There's an old form of illness I had never heard of before and it can't be cured with medicinal treatment, only alleviated to a degree.
It's caused by blood rejection....

I had a test conducted using some of my blood and a little of Inuyasha's own that I had collected from a plant.
When I found the two vials to turn the same color, I was speechless....
A blood rejection illness doesn't occur in siblings.
It only occurs in demon parents, if they reject their pups and matters degrade to the point of intent to kill.

I had utterly no knowledge of him being anything other than my half-brother.
That's why I wasn't the least bit prepared for this.
After all, this particular illness has only ever been recorded to have happened in canine based demons and even then it seems to be rather rare...."

Even though he appeared utterly calm, as he stood before him, his words were rather unsettling,

"Indeed, you can....
While I may detest the very notion of having to ask for assistance, I need to ask a favor of you.
I am doing so because this is the best course of action to take.

Given Inuyasha's temper, things are bound to get ugly rather quickly.
It would probably be best if the miko were present as well because she has the rosary to use at her disposal, as a last resort.
I came to you because you are someone that tries to think logically as well, so it may be possible you could placate him.

I had recently came across some rather disturbing news.
The reason I haven't even bothered trying to track Inuyasha down for any reason at all had been because I needed time to test the information's validity...
It turned out there were no falsehoods about it...
Can you keep what I'm about to tell you to yourself, until you can find a way to get Inuyasha and the miko someplace secluded to tell him?
If you tell her beforehand, he may become suspicious and be more difficult for you to manage."

The weather was wondrous and the air both warm and carrying the soothing scent of Cherry Blossoms.
However, despite the beautiful weather on this cloudless day, something was different.
Sesshomaru had actually set out to locate Inuyasha's group, only to find himself at a stream, where the monk was currently washing his face with his back to him.

"Monk, may I have a word with you?"
