Mhmm. I had only heard of the music type until I looked into it more when my boyfriend told me he had it.
It does come in handy, the drummer was PERFECT at harmonies. He could tell if he was sharp or flat when harmonizing because if he was the color he saw would have a murky unpleasing tint to it.
He's probably the most amazing musician I've ever met, he's going really far with violin playing now.

Oh nice, that's amazing.
The drummer of my old band saw colors when he heard music, a different color for each pitch. He had perfect pitch as well.
My boyfriend now has color-scent synesthesia. I'd never heard of that type, but whenever he smells things he sees different shades.
