My name is
Sweeney Todd. I am a master barber. My name was Benjamin Barker at the time but, 15 years ago Judge Turpin fell in love with my wife Lucy. He sent me away for 15 years in Australia under false pretenses. When I returned I went under the name Sweeney Todd. On my way back I met a man his name was Anthony. He fell in love with my daughter Johanna. Back at my old lodgings on Fleet Street, which was above Mrs. Nellie Lovett's pie shop, Mrs. Lovett told me what happened to Lucy and Johanna. Lucy supposedly drank arsenic from the apothecary down the road and the Judge adopted Johanna. My chance at revenge missed, I had an epiphany, and decided that all of humanity, instead of just Turpin, deserves death, and I vent my murderous rage upon my customers while waiting for another chance to kill the judge. I'm indiscriminate about my killings, I believe that I am punishing the corrupt aristocracy for their exploitation of those below them, while saving the lower classes from their misery. Mrs. Lovett became my willing accomplice, suggesting they dispose of the bodies by baking them into pies to improve her business. I rigged my barber's chair with a pedal-operated mechanism, which deposit my victims through a trap door into Lovett's bakehouse.
