Hi there! How are you doing?
We hear on the news that it is so very hot there,
and about waterfalls from "that big rock there, ya know?"
We are having a very mild winter so far, and it
is so warm that spring flowers are coming up three months early.
I don't mind that my chives are almost tall enough to cut,
and rosemary and marjoram is still growing and green.
We even have had the red amanita mushrooms sprouting in
rare places - like right across from the high school!
Hello Sweetie!
Yes, they will do a spontaneous Thriller-walk in downtown Seattle.
Last year's was about 4,00 zombies.
We're having a typical fall - rain this week, clogging drains with colorful leaves.
Pumpkins glow in fog-filled fields, and huge spider webs glisten with dew.
We live in Halloweenish country - bats, spiders and all!
We had salmon for supper, smothered in gingered-yogurt with fresh lemon-thyme and garlic, and baked.
Our spices didn't get watery in goat's milk yogurt. Yay!
I'm going to try the cumin. I bet that would go good on some nachos!
Thanks so much for your help and insight and...fun!
Congratulations and all that good stuff for ya!
I sure hope you can get published.
*Hugs* for you and your costume-projects for this year.
Well, Helloooo!
It's the time of year when we both have glorious weather!
We got our first end of summer storm this weekend.
There was even a unique tornado because of it, but no one was hurt.
These first storms break off the tops of the trees, since they are full of leaves and fruits.
We're picking wild blackberries, and finally enjoying the abundance of
tomatoes and cucumbers from our green house. The u-pick fresh corn signs are going up.
School started last week, and my grandson said he
got to dissect an oyster yesterday in Marine Science which is required here.
I found a 'new' recipe for a custard & yogurt blackberry tart/pie.
It calls for 6 eggs, and a pound of yogurt, so I think it's going to be huge!
It is from an antique old farm cookbook from the 1800's,
which calls for a slow-stoked fire to bake this pie.
This recipe is going to be fun!
*Hugs* for spring scents and for your projects!
Hiya! Sure are thinking about you and your winter.
Two days ago we had the hottest day ever recorded here.
I learned that the family that owns the house we rent
actually lives in Melborne. He's a merchant marine,
and he's from here, but his wife got homesick, so they moved back to Australia.
I'm drying herbs like basil, sage, the mints, and chives from our garden while it is hot.
We ate the first cucumber, and tomato this week, and the wild berries are starting to ripen.
I made some macaroon cookies with lemon yoghurt.
They were an experiment that turned out excellent!
We're having fresh fruits like grapes, blueberries,
plums and apricots sliced, with frozen vanilla yoghurt on top.
The cherries are coming on, so that will be next!
'Bundle-up-good-there' and *Hugs* for you!
That explains the unique plants around our house. We have four types of bamboo for example.
Hiya! July first, and what's the weather like there?
We had an earthquake today. 3.7 shaker.
Is this your main avi? We have a giftie for
you, and want to send it to the right account.
I have golf-ball sized tomatoes comin' on,
and the roses are in full aromatic bloom.
We're putting our fresh local shrimp, clams & crab on
the barbie this weekend. Finally we have some summer!
Makin' pickles right now. Nooo, no pickle ice cream.
Ice cream is fresh peach with caramel sauce.
Yogurt has cinnamon, and raisin bits.
*Hugs for ya!*
Just flying through to check on you!
How's the education and occupation process
going for you?
This week's ice cream is fresh black cherries,
dark chocolate shavings, in vanilla ice cream.
Yoghurt is fresh raspberries.
It's finally feeling like summer, and my flowers are
blooming, and the berries are coming on. We live where there
are many types of wild berries, that fruit all summer, but of course,
I have to go to a farm and pick cultured raspberries!
I just can't wait for the wild ones.
The angel food cake is the kind with the hole in the center,
and I put strawberries that are cut up and covered with sugar overnight,
so they're all juicy in there. The juice soaks into the cake, while I whip the heavy cream.
Then, I slather the cake with whipped cream, and put halves of berries all over.
Ya have to eat it out of a big bowl, with ladled cut strawberries & juice over the slice.
It's sooo light & decadent, I wish you could really enjoy some.
My son was born Jan 5th. He's secial, like you, too. *Hugs*
How'd your report go?
We had 3 inches - er... um... 4+cm of rain in the past two days.
It's spring storms though, and it sure helps to settle our record pollen levels.
I've been a mess with sinus and allergies to the maple pollen here.
This week's special is angel-food cake with fresh cut & sugared strawberries and whipped cream.
It's my birthday cake! Is your birthday really 1-1?
