Tell me in your sweet words that you understand the pain in my body. That you know the feelings of numbness that the pain leaves behind, that you understand the suffering of what I've become, that you know the shell I am on the outside.
Tell it to me. Whisper it in my ear and speak sweet nothings of charmed attempts at a smile on my distraught face for as long as you want.
It'll work eventually.
You'll see that slight slim smile overcome my features and you'll feel good about yourself. You'll tell me I'm over him, you'll say that you know I can be happy again. But you don't know that I simply do it to make you stop.
They say they understand... they compare my pain to those of high school lovers, simple relationships ending on an oh so heartwrenching note, say they know what pain is going on in my chest. But do not tell me you know what it's like for your heart to be shattered.
You stand there with your perfectly whole hearts, tell me of the scars and slight breaks that have been inflicted upon them. Tell me that the pain you've felt back then is equivalent to what I feel now. I don't want to hear you pitiful whispers, your supposed understandings. You don't know what it's like to have your heart shattered. To have the organ implode on itself and the pieces shattered so violently that it scraps the very being of your soul.
So take your bandages and wrap them around the bloody mess of my heart and shove it back into the cavity that is my chest and call it whole. Appease yourselves, let yourselves see the smile of mock happiness pull up on my face and tell you "thank-you."
