I'd be interested in getting some avi art from you if you're still doing it for Gaia gold.
Or are you only doing RL commissions right now?

It was veerrry different from anything I had done before, though not painful. I think the tattoo I got later that day hurt worse.

Eh, Im lazy too its no matter. But I was wondering a bit about your sizes for the art. I think you specified three, but I wanna know what said sizes look like, plox~
Ill probably edit my avi slightly for the art, but in general it wont change. I'll get a pic reference and all that jazz to you tomorrow~ Its bed time for the tired Swede now~

My Posterior Is Superior

Sounds like a good beginning, to me!
I couldn't get into the drums at all until I got my set properly tuned and outfitted with nice heads.
I'm self taught implemented with videos I found sooo...
First thing you wanna do is get a torque key. Makes tuning soooo much easier cause it keeps the heads perfectly tensioned so you don't need to worry about distortion in it.
Personally, I'm tone deaf so the key is a lifesaver. Where I can't hear the distinction between lugs, the torque key eliminates the need.
If you just tune one click at a time, you'll be golden and sound like you're a tuning pro.
You can grab new heads if you want, but not needed. If you do, I always suggest double ply on batter, single for resonance unless you want a really tubed out sound.
Evans Ec2's on the batter(top), Remo Ambassadors on the resonance(bottom) is my rule of thumb for the toms. I'm a big fan of Aquarius on my snare.
Remo Pinstripe on the bass drum.
When tuning your tom, hit it with a mallet of some kind and you'll get a hum from it. That is the base note of the tom and generally the best sound you're gonna get from it.
What I like to do is what I think of as, 'tuning around it'.
Essentially, the resonance is that note one octave down and the batter is either matching or an octave above that too.
Remember, this is a me thing. You're free to do whatever you want.
Now, if you're using both single ply, it'll matter very little if you reverse them but for the sake of info, I'll get into that.
Resonance is pretty much as it sounds, the resounding noise. The tighter you tune the resonance, the longer the sustain. The more loose it is, less sustain.
The note will change though by tuning the resonance, it doesn't just deal with the resonance, so you'll need to accommodate that.
I don't recommend tuning at the very same note cause distortion from use starts to show very easily after a few hours of use and it just gets annoying, not to mention the hit doesn't sound so full.
You've probably noticed a hole in one of your shells, that's where tuning comes into play.
Whenever you hit the head, it presses down so air comes out of that hole. If they heads don't move in accordance with each other, that's where the distortion comes from.

I've got a TON more info than that, but I'm pretty sure I'm putting your eyes to the test now. smile
That should be a nice start though, as far as fundamentals go.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Good luck!

So you play the drums?
If you'd wanna learn a bit more, I'd love to help you out. smile
I used to work as a studio drummer.
Can't say I can do much for your actual playing, but I can certainly tell you a few tricks.
