Honestly, I was a lot of fun! We turned my neighbor's living room into a "train station" and we had Thomas everything!

I helped host a birthday party for a 3 year old and every time I opened the front door I had to say "Welcome to the island of Sodor!"
Most wonderful!

You win some, you lose some, it's whatever. It doesn't help that I also changed my thoughts a couple of times half way through many of those sentences anyway. Lol
Server-side stuff isn't my specialty so I'm sure I won't always be correct, but hey, that's what talking to others corrects. Lol.

Fair enough, but who's to say it's not just shortening a long file path instead? I find it unlikely they're pointing to an old parameter since they've shown no hesitation to use parameters when linking to posts

Especially since if you try www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=95698971&post=_recent it doesn't work (well the last parameter anyway). Although it could be another parameter, but it's still unlikely they more likely use something like
< ? php
//viewtopic.php
if(isset($_GET['reverse'])){
for($length = count($posts); $length > $posts-15; $length--){
echo $post;
}
}
? >
Of course that's poorly constructed example. It's still unlikely though since they more than likely changed their forum structure over the years with all the modifying of the PHPBB2 that they started with.
My main point isn't the symlink/directory structure, it's the fact that _recent isn't a glitch and wouldn't have been a glitch.

The _recent is not a parameter, ?something=something&somethingelse=somethingelse are paremeters.
Also the _recent has been used for years, at least 2012 (earliest thread I could find about it), but probably earlier. Most people just don't realize the _recent. Gaia uses .htaccess url changing (symlinks) to point to the file, then they do a $_GET in the file with PHP to get the "reverse" and if it's there, then display the posts in reverse order. It's programmatically done, otherwise the post displays in oldest to newest order. There's no way that could be a glitch, nobody ever accidentally programs a reversal order.
