About
Men who lose everything but their usefulness. Men shunned by women and feared by children, they are not darkened men.
Darkened men are the men who get it all back. Men who no longer hate themselves never lose their hate. They just find a new outlet.
So when Shastah and I bring our wrath upon you, do not separate us from others in your mind. Just get the hell out of our way. We have conquering to do.
Siegell types in black.
Shastah types in blue.
Age: 33 (and 16, hatched in Siegell's hands)
Class: Veteran Wyvern Rider or Wyvern Lord (and Wyvern)
Weaponry: Spears and Glaives-- polearm swords, like Axereavers. (And claws and teeth and tail)
Other equipment: Generally carries a Fili Shield in combat, and wears heavy riding armor. He has a metal mask to cover the left half of his face. (And Shastah wears a saddle!)
Story: Siegell was once the creme of the Daein crop. Highborn, mingled with aristocrats, and as he came into adulthood he filled out the body of a human Adonis. He joined the army as a Wyvern Rider and bonded to Shastah's egg at the age of 17. His strong body and considerable skill, as well as his connections, let him climb the ranks easily until he was leader of a quarter of the nation's largest battalion of Wyvern Riders.
Siegell's tendency to question orders, however, began to cause problems a year or so before the Tellius War. After he was nearly assassinated, he was forced to give up everything he had and flee to Begnion, where he offered his services to their military. He was employed as a simple scout, not trusted with real authority.
On a mission over Serenes, he was ambushed by Kilvas ravens. He was nearly killed, and would have died if not for Shastah. After Siegell took numerous attacks to the face and slumping in the saddle, Shastah killed the remaining ravens himself. Siegell survived, but was forever scarred. His face was torn apart on the left side, and by the time a physician was found, it was too late to restore it to its former handsomeness and glory. His left cheek pinched inward, his eye slanted down, and much of his nose was missing from then on.
Siegell was a broken man soon after. Children cried when they saw him, and women fled from him. He fell into depression, and soon became susceptible to wild mood swings and aggression. More than once, Shastah had to talk him down from the urge to attack a superior officer, and the rage built up inside him tore him apart slowly. He had had everything, and lost it. The course of his life could be changed easily-- he could become good or evil, all depending on the next step he takes.
(Curse of the Looking Glass version:
It was for his unpredictability and expendability that the Begnion senators chose Siegell to test the fearsome looking glass that reflected lies. When he came into contact with it, it sucked him in along with Shastah, and in the ensuing panic afterward the senators destroyed the mirror completely.
Siegell woke in a tunnel where up and down were but illusions, and wracked with thirst both he and Shastah drank some milk that they found placed out for them. Soon after, they found themselves changed; Siegell's face and body were restored to their prime, and Shastah became a young, strong Wyvern again. The sudden restoration of his former beauty was the push that sent Siegell over the edge into madness. He would prove that he was worth something, and take back everything he lost by ruling this new land. He would be king.)
