Well, think about it: you have a Nitemare Scarf and OMG, probably two of the most coveted items in the site's history... damned if they're not some of the most expensive; you may not be rich gold-wise, but you're definitely rich item-wise. 3nodding
As far as the showy thing, that is true; on some of the eldest mods, especially, their avatars are not extremely showy or anything... and they basically created the site, so in theory they could have whatever they wanted... probably just thinking off the top of my head here, but just a theory.
I don't really care whether I look showy or not with my avatars; I just make what I want to make... and what I make usually involves a lot of gold coloring, which people would associate with being showy and rich. They can have their connotations if they want, I'll keep sticking with a theme I do best. 3nodding

... you know, you could almost call Gaia a Communist or Marxist society. There is, to some extent, a class distinction: the "rich" people are primarily the ones who have been on Gaia the longest, whether from the beginning or a year or two back, or just have a lot of money for cash cards; there's the "middle" class of Gaians who maybe have been around a while but don't have as much money as the class above them, for whatever reasons applicable; and then comes the poor class, or the n00bs, as some people might call them, who just started and are trying to worm their way up in an online economy that doesn't allow for prosperity unless they spend some green... or they resort to begging and scamming or any other low activities to nab all the gold they can. This leads to a dislike of the lowest class, or the n00bs, that is mutual among some of the higher ups who have been on the site for so long and worked their way up from perhaps more unforgiving times, when gold came MUCH more sparingly and in much smaller amounts.
I'm not saying that not a lot of gold comes around now - hell, I'd be so damned rich right now if this were still 04 - but with how much everything costs on Gaia nowadays, it may as well be. Just about every EI on my avi right now (sans the Biancamella), it took almost $60 of Cash Cards... if I round the Cash spent to the probably gold amount, I probably spent over 1mil on 4 freaking items overall. That's just obscene. eek

... but at least it looks good, right? sweatdrop

You'd think they'd support the places outside the U.S., too; hey, it means more money for them, and isn't that really what the Cash system is all about? A way for them to get more money for the Gaians who really want to spend it to make their accounts better?
I'm somewhat hopeful for this month... but if it's a flop, I doubt I'll be buying any more letters in the future. I used the last of my cash on this damn letter, and I better get something good out of it.

Hopefully the letters will, but with the way they've been going as of late, I'm starting to doubt it. EIs seem to be getting the most attention nowadays. Gaia's been whoring out the Cash Shop to a ridiculous degree.
Anyway, most of the EIs I've bought have been a few months after their final evolution and pulling from the CS, if not longer... they're A LOT cheaper when the hype dies down. 3nodding
