I don't really remember, honestly. Though for that specific boss, a short aerial moveset would probably be best, because you have very little time near the boss.

Lol, apparently the boss in HT regenerates it's tentacles mid-battle on Proud, which would really suck.
And did you pick a Keyblade with a good aerial moveset?
