Yes, very much so, however before Hachiko's display of loyalty to his master the Akita breeds loyalty had gone unnoticed by the public. ;~; <3
If I remember correctly the two most recognized dogs/breeds from Japan are the Akita and the Shiba. Both are very beautiful X3!

Yeah, I had a dog who did the same. She was my best friend and "exploration" partner when I was younger.
I'd take her into the mountains with me. X3!
Its also fun to think about and realize the Akita breed almost became extinct before Hachiko's loyalty was discovered becoming a national symbol. If I remember correctly there were a grand total of 3 remaining Akita with paperwork remaining/found and documented.
