Wow, that's one noble goal! I wish you luck with that. And boy, you're gonna have fun.

If you were to look into polish literature, Mickiewicz would be propably not bad, since he's one of our most famous, altough I don't know how interesting/comprehensible his books are if you don't know much about polish history. Also, if you have an allergy for romantism, you might get a rash. Seriously.

Stay away from Sienkiewicz, he's boring.

And if you like science-fiction, go for Stanisław Lem. His writing is wonderful. And I know his books are actually translated to english. XD

To be honest, I don't read polish books that often.

I would have shat brix if you know what that was. Very surprised brix.

Mickiewicz is one of Poland's most important poets , and "Dziady" is an epic epopee in three parts; the second one is (yep, there are three, but it starts with the second one, and they are not supposed to be read in order, wtf) about crime and punishment, the fourth is about CRAZY ROMANTIC LOVE (which is basically "I'm crazy because she doesn't love me, nobody has ever loved like me, I talk to a tree... by the way, I'm a ghost" wink and the third one is about partition of Poland, about the russian part specifically, about patriotism, revolution and an angry prometeian bard.

It's actually really interesting, you know. This guy had a way with words.

Polish society in VII and VIII scenes of third part of Mickiewicz's "Dziady". It's not that bad... but still I don't feel like writing it. :/ Oh well, I'm about halfway done. I just felt like bitching a little. XD

And I'm late with it anyway, so I don't really have to hurry. XD
