I'm not doubting that you are a good rat owner, but if you think rats can live fulfilling lives alone and you're planning to breed a rat that has behavior problems then I wouldn't say you're being a responsible one. You don't have to justify yourself to me, but I just hope for his sake you'll step back and see if the things you're doing are for his sake or yourself. Have you seen Dianephotos of deviantart's amazing rat FAQ? http://dianephotos.deviantart.com/journal/34771180/ it has some of the best information from an amazing lady I hope you'll take a look at it.

Rats develop behavior and emotional issues if they are kept alone because they are social animals. Pet store rats tend to have bad genetics because they are offshoots of the reptile food trade where they are inbred and no one really cares about their genes. It's probably a mixture of a bad genetic disposition because of his breeding compounded by living alone which has bad psychological effects on them. As for the not having money for neutering... for myself, I forgo whatever is necessary for my pets or I don't have them because it's a responsibility and a luxury that I took on. If he were neutered he could live with the females and not be alone, I hope for the best for him and you either way.

Does he have any cagemates? And if so is he mean to them? Was he always like that or did it rise up after a few months? If he is peeing on things with a really smelly pee and rubbing his testicles on things it could be a sign that he is having hormonal problems. If that's the case, take him to the vet to be neutered and it should level out his mood.

If not that it could just be genetic behavior issues sad
