Whoa, good luck!! Which university is it? I think the portfolio content depends on the specific program. Design students were encouraged to present more "manual" work (woodworking, bookbinding, etc.) while Computation Arts students had better chances with website design/coding, game design, etc. My portfolio had a mix of websites, flash games, posters, packaging design and 3D models. If you ever need feeddback or tips on what to submit, just let me know! Translation is exactly what it sounds like; it's learning how to (accurately) translate text from one language to another. It sounds pretty easy when you're bilingual (which I am, English isn't my first language haha) but there's a TON of grammatical rules to follow depending on the language you're translating to and the format you're translating for (books, instruction manuals, subtitles, etc.) so it ended up being a lot more difficult than I had imagined. It's also why I scream whenever someone relies on Google Translate x__x

Yeah, pretty much! I started doing logos and tour posters for bands when I was 16, just for fun. I got good feedback and figured it was the right professional field for me. I did a BA in Translation first though, because the art program I initially applied to only accepted 90 students (out of 400+) and I wasn't selected on the first try. So I can do graphic design and not have to worry too much about contracts because I can always do freelance Translation too. :3 AH I really like your avatar!! You did a fantastic job with the colors. C:

nah there is--my last project was just, "create a font, write original text and animate it for 60 seconds", so we could do virtually anything from motion graphics to animation to interactive touchscreen-based apps. since it was for a typography class, i knew i was better off spending more time on the font than on accompanying illustrations, y'know? especially since we were pretty limited time-wise. that's probably our main constraint. other times we have stuff like, remix found video footage, model a local outdoor art piece and break it/texture it like ruins, etc. so tons of wiggle room, but you have to be smart and know what the teachers want you to focus on. yeah i already spend enough time on gaia as it is tbh XD;; i'm also hoping to go back to my part-time job as a web tech this summer so we'll see how that goes

haha, sometimes! making avatars gives me idea for character designs, but i rarely get the chance to use those because we have very specific requirements for most of our assignments. now i just have one assignment left for wednesday and after that i'm FREEEEE until september. oh joy. ah i'm not selling my dark heart (yet? i think?) because i'm probably going to keep using it; if i change my mind i'll let you know. c:

they're going, they're going. i'm nowhere close to being done and it's making me a little anxious D8 hopefully i can finish the illustrations today and do the 3D one tomorrow, because i have to do video editing and motion graphics this weekend. AAARRRHGHGHH. but thank you! and yes i do.

whoa, that's awesome! yes i did. i'm in my second year of computation arts. literally right now i'm illustrating a typographic animation, and tomorrow i have to try and finish a 3D animation. art programs are GREAT for experience, professional feedback and networking, but it's a lot of work. i don't remember what it's like to have free time D8

I am! Well, sorta. I mostly do multimedia art, and I'm more on the technical end (coding, video editing, motion graphics) than the artistic one. So you're an artist? P:
