Hiya there! It's actually been ages since i've been on this site. I've had some fond memories being on here whether it was rping with some friends of mine or i was part of a Fire Emblem Guild and had some good times with people i got to know gradually over there. I used to be very cringey back then and not very talkative, but many years have passed since then and I have kind of missed this site and i thought i'd return~
Anyways I'm Matt! ^_^ It's nice to meet you or whoever decides to read my ramblings lol. I'm pretty much a total Otaku. I love anime, reading manga, gaming, drawing, studying Japanese and honestly obsessed with Japanese culture generally. I'm huge fan of Studio Ghibli movies as well! I also like making Youtube videos, cooking, watching movies, listening to music, and i like nature walks from time to time.
I got into anime when i was technically in middle school. I'd like to say Tokyo Mew Mew was the moment i was exposed or when i realized what anime was. I really loved it a lot when i was 12 years old, but i couldn't talk about it with anyone because i was afraid that i'd be made fun of for liking Shoujo. When i graduated middle school, I discovered Hayao Miyazaki films. I didn't have cable growing up but it was finally this year when my mom could afford it for us. I saw movies like My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and the one I really loved and still do to this day which is Laputa: A Castle in the Sky. I still love it but not nearly as much as Princess Mononoke which is my favorite Ghibli ever. But yeah... When i was 14 I watched some anime like Samurai Deeper Kyo, Zatch Bell/Konjiki no Gash Bell, especially Naruto. However, it was right when i was about 16 when i watched Inuyasha and that was when my love for anime truly started. Or I guess you could say that I got into my Otaku phase.
Now here's some random facts about me!
My favorite animes:
-My Dress Up Darling, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Toradora, Monster Musume no iru Nichijou, Hikaru no Go, Clannad, Your Lie in April, and Kimi ni Todoke!
Favorite mangas are Koe no Katachi, Erased, Bitter Virgin, Say I love you, and even though i don't think it's good I do kind of enjoy Kanojo Okarishimasu, Chainsawman, Ichigo 100%, and i actually liked Domestic na Kanojo
My favorite games are Fire Emblem, Ace Attorney, Lunar 2 Eternal Blue, Grandia, Pokemon, Dark Cloud, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Riviera the Promised Land, Super Robot Taisen, Huniepop, and i've been interested in some gacha games like Nikke: Goddess of Victory, Genshin impact and Azur Lane~
My favorite music genres/composers/bands are Vocaloid, Noriyuki Iwadare, Jun Senoue, Jam Project, Hironobu Kageyama, Aliproject, Joe Hisaishi, Elton John, Linkin Park, some 80s music and 90s music.
I'm kind of an introvert so it takes a good while for me to warm up to people i don't know, but i tend to be pretty easygoing, random, and goofy around people i know really well.
I love Wolves, foxes and cats
My favorite food is Yakisoba or anything noodle or pasta related~

Tbf, the YT scene back then was diff so they feel more genuine so that probably adds to that? At least you can still watch old content. A lot of stuff then was already wiped out or hard to find
I actually did just get back to Gaia too. I can't thread-hop anymore cause I'm too busy unlike my teen self, but it does feel less overwhelming now. It was buzzing everywhere and a lot of threads were too fast-moving. (But I was also in other smaller avi sites so I guess that made Gaia more intimidating to me)
I remember Emirichu's older vids too and I used to watch her back then. So I kinda get it I think

As for me, I just really never lost interest. But I did lose practice when I got busy sometime before.
I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, so since a kid. But I only really, really took it seriously (like genuinely trying to improve instead of just drawing as a hobby) sometime after the pandemic. Then I opened comms last year for the very first time and that has helped me improve further ^^
And hell yeah! Twintail supremacy! I'd say it's a very popular hairstyle but at the same time not a lot of people talk about it... well probably xD in my circles, am usually the one who yaps so much about how cute it is xD and I've been doing this for years
