A battle waged not between men or country
Where no weapon shall be drawn.
No bodies to fall onto blood-soaked soil
And no innocent hearts to be weighed down in sorrow
An anguish of her mind --
A perplexed situation not all to understand.
The voices softly uttering nonsense
All she can do is listen...
All she tries to do is fight.
Onlookers gawk and judge
For she is nothing more than a silent victim
Their eyes piercing into her flesh
Wanting to know what is in her head
It is a room built with an intricate design
Where the wires struggle to connect
The creators commanding them to never cross
No instructions to follow; an incomplete puzzle
Countless of pieces that don't fit or belong
Desperation swallows colors of false hope
Seeking peace within the dose
However, repelled and spat out
Her body not yet accepting
Though her mind grows weary
Her will pushes on
She'll strive to remain sane
For she, alone, shall be her own savior
But for now
No white flag will be lifted
The battle will continue on
"I will not yield --
I will not surrender."
