No. Where I live The WB was a special channel with no local transmitter (despite being local) so it was cable or never.

My parents had the cheap service with only 30 or 40 channels but HEY, IT'S UNDER $60 A MONTH.

Oh the Pokemon character.

I think it was Paul. A trainer who pushed his Pokemon past their limits, going entirely by their stats and only using his strongest Pokemon at any given time.

IMO that makes him more awesome. I kinda like the idea of a game protagonist whose methods of winning directly mirror those of actual players of games.

Laharl. His methods seem to intentionally mirror the methods used by actual game players. Namely, using strategy only if needed, otherwise happily plowing right into an obvious trap using overwhelming power and numbers.

Heh, Laharl seems to win the exact same way players of a lot of games do. In the way that unless strategy is actually needed, he just plows in and wins through sheer force and numbers and would happliy sacrifice his own grunts to win.

He's basically the person playing the protagonist AS the protagonist.

Ironically a Pokemon anime character was written to show how being that way was cruel but the fans LOVED him because they felt lovingly included.

And yeah, I knew the whole time, just never thought much of it until I had one Female Warrior with a total level of 870 who was pretty much the thing to fear, and 3 or 4 others who were damn close to that.
