~Mika's POV~ 2

"This is insane...." I mumbled as we all sat in silence.

I finished my book and sighed.

Ai looked at me as if I was a mad woman, "Isn't that like your fifth book today Mika?"

'One can only imagine what she's thinking. "She's not only insane for thinking that school isn't half bad, but she's read six books today! EVEN I DON'T READ THAT MUCH!!!!" Oh yes, that's what she's thinking.'

"Sixth," I corrected, placing the book on con artists into my book bag and took out another. "Starting my seventh."

"So, I'm guessing you like to read, Akatsu-"

"Yes Yagami, I enjoy reading." I interrupted Light rudely. "Please, either call me Mika-san, or Mika. I don't appreciate it when people call me by my last name."

I flipped the book open and skimmed through the table of contents.

'Current obsession: Con artists and how they work.' I laughed mentally.

...

Light was silent for a bit and Ai was laughing to herself.

"Alright..." Light murmured, "But only if we both are on a first name basis."

'What the hell!'

"Fine."

"So, Yag...Light. How was the first day?"

'Thank you, Ai. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. This kid is really going to get on my nerve. Gosh, with the staring and such.' [[Writers insider]]

"It was alright. How about you Ai-san, Ryuuga?"

The three had a conversation, and I drifted into my own little world.

'Hopefully the conversation will keep Ai sane, while I try and think this out.' I glanced over at my lunch bag. Like always, I brought a little bit of my own food. As a citizen of America, you learn that most served foods, whether it's at school, at work, or at a hospital, taste awful. I looked away from the bag and to the sky. Birds were soaring above our heads, squawking to their hearts desire.

'Stupid birds...shut up. Your giving me a head ache...' Rubbing my temples, pinching the bridge of my nose, facing my head to the table and closing my eyes. 'I can feel a migraine coming on...'

"-san...-ka-san...Mika-san?"

'Oh...is someone talking to me? Oops...'

I gave a 'Huh' and looked up to Ai, L and Light.

"Sorry. I've got a bit of a head ache. What were you saying?"

"Light asked how your day was." Ai said. She looked concerned. She knew about my ear splitting head aches. She had a similar condition. Long story for another time really.

"My day was fine. I still can't get over what you said in our Advanced Intellect course today, Ai. The teacher looked perplexed."

"...What did she say?"

Ai and I gave the boys odd looks. Not only had they asked the same question at the same time, but they had been there when it happened.

"Weren't you in the room when she said it?? She was pretty loud about it..."

*~*Flashback*~*

"Alright, now that we have all of my rules set, let's get to work."

All of the students took out a pencil on instinct and grabbed their note pads, notebooks, etc.

"Who can tell me the best method of deduction?"

'Best...? Ha, bull. There isn't a best. It depends on the topic or case...'

I nudged Ai with a smirk. We learned that the hard way.

The old lady who was teaching the class, Toyo Sensei, scoped the room looking for any possible student with the answer.

"Is that a trick question?" I asked, not bothering to raise my hand. My con artist book was still in my hand and I was more than halfway done, only a half an hour into the first period of the day.

"No, Akatsuki-san. There is a proper answer to the question. Next time. please raise your hand! Your in violation of rule 3A!" Ai and I rolled my eyes, easily fitting the role of fraternal twins.

"Whatever."

I went back to my book and Ai continued messing with her iPod.

...

I didn't even listen to the teacher as she tried to extract the non-existent answer out of her students.

"There's a best? Even if there was, you wouldn't know it you old hag..."

I struggled to keep myself
