it is, but the ending is kinda sad.
i can tell you if you don't mind me spoiling it.
it's just short story. but then they made a tv show. then the author turned the original short story into a book, but my teacher says it's wildly inappropriate for some reason. *shrugs*

but have you read 'Flowers for Algernon'? it's a sad story about a mentally retarded man of ~35 years old. he has an IQ of 68 and has a experimental surgery done on his brain to triple his IQ. he has this TV put on every night in his room so that while he's sleeping, his subconscious mind takes over and learns even while he's asleep. he doesn't understand this: "If people can just learn while they sleep, why do people go to school?", says Charlie. my class immediately after this unleashed an uproar of agreement to said statement. xD
