Thats pretty cool

Weather concious or unconcious I never really use magic in the psychic mental kind of way that a lot of people do, never really realized that till now

I kinda like the prioritization you put on magic, how its possible to do something one way, but its a lot harder, and there can be much easier alternatives

Dun worry, I love answering questions.

Magic in my story is "avalible" to anyone, though some people are certainly more gifted than others. In the same way some people are more gifted with a sword, or some with a quill than others. The majority of mages in the story though, come from a singular culture, partly because the gifts that benefit magic run so fluently through their heritage, and also because they hold the majority of the history of magic (thus making it easier for their children to study magic)

As far as how the actual mechanics of magic works... The universe of this story is divided into a few 'realms' one being physical, and one being the magical. There are other realms, like spiritual ect... but are irrelevant for now. Though by the beginning of the original story, the technique of creating new spells is all but lost, they were all created by mages. Through force of will, and manipulation of the magical realm, they were able to create beings in that magical realm, simmilar to beings like humans in the physical realm. The mage that created this being names it, and that name is used to call it when a mage is casting a spell. When a mage casts a spell, he opens a barrier between the physical and the magical world, and a part of the being he calls (by voice) responds and enters the physical world. Since it is not of this world, the physical realm reacs with an elemental reaction, like Fire or Wind, depending on the creature called.

The limits of this magic are set primarily by the mages ability to open the barrier, the power of the creature that is called upon, and the mages ability to manipulate the effect once it has begun.

I hope I haven't confused you too terribly...

One more time, try. Stand with your hands in your pockets and stare at the smudge on the newspaper sky. Ask it to rain a new name for everything.
