Your class is way more structured than mine is.... usually we have to keep track ourselves... and usually we don't do tournaments, we can if we want to, but it's not common....
usually for our testing we're graded on our sparring, our form that we have to perform in front of the judges, and then when you get to be a blue belt you start to break boards....

hmm lets see... for ours you usually have two levels for each color. there is Recommended and Decided ... except for black... their ranks are called Dans. The highest level black belt, that I've met, is a 7th Dan... I think.... there aren't a lot of people with that high of a level cause you can only test once a year or longer in between your black belts...
for the other belts, there is a time period of about two months (in the beginning) for testing... the wait time is supposed to increase as you gain in levels....

Personally, I like to wait about a half a year before I test, that way I have a lot of time to better my skills... razz

for belt colors.....
Youth/Kids:
White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Red, and then Black
Adults/Teens above 13 (I think):
White, Orange, Green, Blue, Red, and Black
