★ Callisto is very slightly smaller than planet Mercury, and yet is only Jupiter's second largest moon and the third largest satellite in the Solar System.
★ Callisto's surface is very old and heavily cratered. It's one of the oldest known surfaces in the Solar System, because it does not seem to have any volcanic activity or plate tectonics.
★ There may be an ocean deep under the surface of Callisto and a possibility for it to be home to life.
★ Callisto was a nymph from Greco-Roman mythology that was closely related to Artemis, the goddess of the Hunt, she was also a daughter of King Lycaon.
