Hmm well, it is odd about the app, but Im not sure hes trying to say hes uninterested. Theres a number of possible reasons for it, but I dont wanna pick any particular one out.
But alright, friend request sounds good 3nodding if you ever need someone to talk to, Ill be here 3nodding
And um... I guess you could say that im speaking from experience, in a way... Not quite the same as what youre going through, but um... yeah... I can say that talking to soemone about something will definitely help. Stay calm and dont get mad. Let him know you love him. If you do love him (And I believe you do), then you wont want him to leave even if he makes a mistake, but rather, youd want him to fix it and not make it again. Thats, at least, in my opinion, the number one rule for marriage and the key to a successful one. You dont love someone any less just because they did something wrong. You get upset about their mistakes because... *drumroll* you love that person. Right?

Well, discussing it with him is the absolute best idea. I could NEVER tell you for sure what it is, just what I think it could be.
But from what I read, I think that, rather than not be interested in you, hes just not really enthusiastic about anything. The Navy does that to people, my friend who used to be hyperactive and silly is now quiet and reserved. He joined about a year ago. But about the pictures/app, Im not really sure if I have a solid idea, but it could be spam, or it could just be he wanted variety. He probably doesnt mean to hurt you. Guys look at other women without any intention of cheating or leaving. Girls do it too, so I cant really say its "a guy thing".
Anyway, talk to him about it next time hes at home (dont do it over the phone or online, it could make things worse). Let him know that youre not angry, but you are upset over it and that youre confused and that you just want to know. Communication is key in a relationship. The smallest, most insignifigant thing could be mistaken and cause problems if you dont talk about it. Im sure that if he was worried about something, youd want him to talk to you, even if you did make a mistake. Talk things out and work things out. I hope things get better for you ^^
