Everyone wonders this from time to time, and I often see those who proclaim to be 'literate', but they are nothing but people who can do millions of page long entrance posts that they post again and again and again with no flair, no storyline, and no imagination.
So what is a literate by my definition?
I believe that a literate is a person who can write and keep up a storyline without having to make things up last second to adjust and make their character GOD or decide things in OOC beforehand, therefore blocking their character into a role that they might not have to be in given freedom. Their storyline can flow no matter who comes in. It is like an actual life. The character is influenced by more than just the person they are RPing with. They can see the scene around them, and what is happening to the people about them.
And as for the length of the post...I don't define literacy by how long it is, but by what is in it. I don't care if you post two lines, or two pages. If it is full of bullshit and nothing special...nothing new...then it is a bullshit post and might as well be posted by a noob.
So therefore, a literate is someone who can post big or small, and will adjust it so that they don't look like a dumbass, or a over-acheiver. Literates always keep their posting fresh so you don't feel like you are reading the same thing over and over again.
I am proud to be a literate. How about you?
