Essay topic: Adopted children should know who their birth parents are

The importance of finding out of whom an adopted child’s birth parents are is quite significant. I was in foster care, similar to being in an adopted child’s home, so I can relate to that child. When I was little, I would always cry because I would miss my mom, and even throw tantrums, because I hated foster parents and being in their care. I would always bear the pain of solitude, especially at night, and would cry for my mom. My brothers were there, of course, but that didn’t make up for my mom’s absence. I was always alone, now that I think about it. The foster parents’ daughter was nice at first, but turned into a typical big sister, thus mean. Also, being Aboriginal made a difference too. I didn’t know I was native, because I was young. It was probably because of loneliness and getting in trouble that I grew to be shy and introverted. I grew to be shy because that kept me from making any friends and in turn, I thought that would keep me from getting hurt in the long run. It’s not a great thing, not knowing who or where your parents are. It really brings up questions of your identity, and where you came from. Its just not pleasant, but then again, not having any parents at all is still worse.
