She is very social person--it comes with her job description. She has to play everyone's friend when it comes to bartending and though she enjoys meeting new people, it takes quite a bit for her to open her life up to new people. It may be because she wasn't particularly allowed to extend her relationships pass anything more than acquaintance--not wanting to expose AVALANCHE during those few months that Tifa's Seventh Heaven posed at the group's headquarters in Sector Seven. Nonetheless, lately she seems content with keeping her small circle of friends from AVALANCHE and feels no urgancy to include more people in her life, even though she does become lonely in the downtime between visits.
Tifa is a sweet and good-natured young woman, but she isn't perfect. She isn't Aerith. She can't keep a smile on her face in the worst of times, when things seem dire, even her optimistic attitude--one thing she clings to like a lifeline--pales in comparison and she lacks the heart to see goodness in everyone, despite their past actions or future plans. Tifa tries to pose as a rock for everyone though, offering the support and reassurances her friends need. However, sometimes she hates her role. She isn't expected to be weak--she's supposed to be the emotionally strong one, the one that keeps everyone together and going. Her own insecurities and doubts are pushed to the back of her mind, locked away in a tiny box to be analyzed later....when the luxury of weakness is allowed.
It takes a lot to get Tifa's temper flaring. She possesses too much patience and understanding to settle for quick bouts of anger, though she'd love to speak her mind at times. But she just doesn't have the courage or the heart to do that, instead bottling up her emotions for herself to mull over instead. Tifa isn't a very open person, simple as that. She's warm-hearted, approachable and accepting, but she rarely gives anything in return...anything substantial when it comes to her. She'll give support [as stated before], a friendly word and a pleasant conversation, but she hides behind her smile. She won't talk about her feelings, she won't voice her thoughts and she won't bother with her dreams.
When it comes down to it, Tifa is a hopeless romantic. She clings to that memory at the well some odd number of years prior and won't forget that silly, but altogether cherished promise Cloud made to her under the stars. She had only wanted a fairytale, for a knight to come rescue her in a time of need and to her surprise; he actually kept it, more than a couple times. Though she modified it by offering her help in return, she still is waiting for that old-fashion, happily ever after ending to every fairytale.
