A better way of using the message in a bottle method would be to include, let us say you are sailing and are marooned on an island in the South Pacific, starting point, destination point, average miles/kilometers traveled, what landmarks are in viewing range, the average size, in miles/kilometers, that the island across and wide, and so on. Another idea for this would be to include the name of the vessel, and if one was in a plane that crash landed, describe about how many islands are in the area, or the distance from shore.
