ok with each deathnote you get a death god they will tell you about the death note they will ask you if want to trade half your life for special eyes so you can see there name and life span.I would never trade my life for some eyes.....but if you lose the death note you will forget your memories of what you did and if you traded for the eyes it will stay the same when you traded the eyes....you don't get it back at all
