He watched as she displayed her prowess, but...was a tad bit skeptical, understandably. If his brother were watching this, he might have laughed raucously...though, Sesshoumaru was a bit more respectful than that.

"...I wonder, if that will be enough..." he said, his expression softening just a pinch.

Curiously, he would loft a brow and wonder what it was she meant by that. Idly, a thought crossed his mind.

"You are capable of protecting yourself?" he asked her, merely curious. Indeed, he did not know of her capabilities. Perhaps she could?

As for the kiss...he did not mind it at all, surprisingly.

Idly, he did not think she fully understood...or maybe she did. He could not be sure, with humans. He had taken notice that humans possessed a certain selflessness that was indeed an oddity to him.

Her hand was warm to his cool skin - and his expression softened slightly. After a moment, he would reply to her statement. "Be that as it may..." he began, closing his eyes. "...In terms of skill and strength, I doubt many would be my match. However, some would find other ways by which to best me," he stated, his expression hardening slightly once again. "...Like my attachment to a human. It would not be the first time," he stated, gazing down at her.

"...In which case, I would simply have to rescue you," he amended.

He closed his eyes, his thoughts going inward for only a moment before speaking. "It is not for my sake that I care what they think or believe," he began, opening his eyes once more to continue. "They would see it as a sign of weakness and seek to gain honor and power through engaging me," he went on. "...I simply wish for you to be aware of that danger. You may just become a target for abduction, or attack."

He only shook his head slightly, quietly musing to himself. "Pay it no mind," he responded, his eyes narrowing only slightly.

"Other demons would say I have gone...soft," he stated, his hand twitching slightly against hers. Indeed, his ruthlessness and distaste for humans was legendary. To be seen holding one's hand would ruin his reputation...in which case, he would have to promptly silence any nay-sayers.

He listened carefully, his sensitive ears picking up on every word, every subtle emphasis on the words...he took in her scent, and knew that she was honestly bearing her soul to him. In the past...he might have indeed turned his back and strode off into the distance, uncaring. But...times had changed, during the past couple of years. Though he hid it well, he did have a certain compassion, for humans...something that he supposed he had Rin to thank for.

He could not say in all honesty that he returned the feelings whole-heartedly, but...this was one human he did not mind having around. She was respectful and decent - who's company was enjoyable.

Wordlessly, he extended his left hand downward and opened it...it was not quite an "I love you too", but...it was a start.

He paused once again for a moment, unsure of how to approach this. After pondering upon it briefly, keeping his own feelings in mind, he spoke once more.

"...If it will ease your pain," he began, closing his eyes gently. "...You may speak freely."

He paused once again for a moment before adding, "...With the promise that I will not leave you, afterward."

In all honesty, he did not want her to hurt...but he was also curious. It was very strange.

To this, he was puzzled only slightly. He did not claim to understand human females, but...he did wish to, at the very least, try. Not turning his gaze, he would speak once again.

"...Please, explain yourself," he stated, clearly not quite grasping what she meant. Demon females were far easier to understand, that was for certain. He could not help but feel...slightly worried for her, if he could indeed place a name to the emotion he was feeling.

So it was as he thought...in the end, that was all that he really needed to hear, to confirm his thoughts. But how to respond...needless to say, he was not used to matters such as this.

"...You need not concern yourself with my leaving forever," he assured, not moving from his spot as he returned his gaze to the horizons. "In the end, you may feel as you wish about me. As long as you observe the rules of respect regarding my position, then you will find that our meetings will continue."

Watching her for a moment as she turned her back to him, he pondered for a moment. He had heard this same statement from several people...that he was important to them. He never really paid it any mind, though he sensed several underlying scents from her. She seemed hesitant - as if her words would bring some kind of repercussion. His expression did not change, however, as he spoke.

"You should say what you mean..." he stated simply, regarding her impassively, as he did with most things.

His eyes widening ever so slightly at her statement, he would shift his gaze towards her once more, his expression unchanged. "...Missed me?" he repeated, only slightly puzzled. He was not very used to others missing him, when he had to go somewhere.

"Why...?" he would ask her, after a brief pause.
