Gemma Connell is a Dancer, Choreographer, Producer and Project Manager currently residing in Crewe, UK.Currently performing for Contact Theatre, Cheshire Dance and the Open Mind Festival of Independent Artists, Gemma graduated from the University of Warwick in 2010, with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in English Literature. She has a wealth of experience in Hip Hop, Freestyle and Street Dance, and began performing at the age of 10. Having opened for Kano and closed for Wiley, Gemma has most recently performed for Community Arts North West, Exodus and Global Grooves. Her time with contact theatre extends to performing to audiences in New York, via telepresence.
Now at 22 years of age, Gemma has produced and managed projects and commissions for the Manchester International Festival, Contact Theatre, Manchester Literature Festival, Cheshire Dance and the 24:7 Theatre Festival. She has choreographed productions and performances for dancers of all ages, including work for Theatre Peaks, Warwick Student Arts Festival and One World Week.
Gemma is also Artistic Director of Broken Rose Performing Arts, a performing arts company engaging in dance, theatre, physical theatre, spoken word and film throughout the UK. Gemma is soon to be working with Valentine records on a film commission, as Movement Director.
