I did a few work experience weeks in that, it's a frighteningly hard industry to get into. Like jobs don't ever get advertised, they're gone as soon as they're available to people who have the right contacts. If you want to do photojournalism, I'd recommend taking a Bachelor of Journalism and taking a visual arts / photography major or a photography degree afterwards. That way you can get into the industry as a reporter (which you WILL if you tell them you take your own photos!) and once you're in you'll have a better chance of getting a job.

The degree was great - I learned a lot about how the media works, genuinely useful knowledge. I'm not going into journalism as a reporter though - it's not for me. But with a BJ I can get into PR and other areas of the media so it's a great degree to have anyway because it opens a lot of doors.
