God's Law - Pastor Bob Coy

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. --Romans 6:23 (NKJV)

Imagine life without laws. No criminal laws to protect your personal property and privileges. No moral laws to prevent people from disrespecting your dignity. No traffic laws to keep one car from colliding with another. No physical laws, such as gravity, to keep people from flying off into outer space. It doesn't take too much imagination to see that life would be crazy, chaotic, and confusing without laws. Laws are good because they provide us with structure, and within that structure we find safety.

There are also certain spiritual laws that God has put into place, which also provide structure and safety. The Bible declares, the wages of sin is death, which is another way of saying that God's law demands for sin to be punished and judged. God's perfect holiness demands that every unholy thing receive the perfect measure of His wrath. God will never break this law because He knows that without it, chaos and calamity would follow.

This is bad news for us because we are born sinners (Romans 3:23). And yet there's a ray of hope that shines through at the end of this law--but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus Christ, who deserved no punishment Himself, received the wrath that mankind's sin incurred. Because Jesus' slate was clean, God was able to write out our death sentence on Him. By doing so, the law that demands perfect punishment was perfectly satisfied by His sacrifice.

Through God's law we find a sense of structure, and through Jesus' sacrifice we find a sense of safety. We simply need to believe and receive it:

'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.' (John 3:16-17 NKJV)

When will I rupture this cacoon and morph into my furtile state?
When will every passing moment be purposeful in my sight?

Am I this bad off?
Am I some sort of condemned, abandoned, worthless one?
When I feel the pain burst from my chest...
A sleepless anxiety attack...
Like it was never bad enough but I'd make it through like always..
Father you're so awesome..
Is this the limit to my mortal existance?
What have you planned for me?
Will I make it through the next trial
and still have a real smile on my face?

God I'm having an acid attack, my bones are melting...

I know these battles are trivial... I'm so impaitent..
I need assuredness like always, it's pathetic...
I'm scared without it there.
Does this make me weak?

My insecurities are my nature and you are always there.
The enemy doesn't let up,
fueling my insecurities every once and a while..
But doubt is the strongest weapon in deception...
I always struggle when I'm forsaking you
but why do I forsake you emotionally?

I have so many questions and my heart is raging for the answers...
