Yeah, A Clockwork Orange can be pretty...intense with the content and all, but some people fail to look past that as the mere illustration of a monstrosity and don't look at it as a part of the characters. I mean, in modern society, it's just crude and disturbingly obscure, but the characters are meant to be disturbed and crude. Essentially, they're quite evil.

Also, the only director I feel is keeping movies alive in the best form of upholstery is probably Ridley Scott. He's done a lot of good stuff like Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven (Extended Version). I just like the types of settings and plotlines he chooses. He never sticks to the here and now, and he may not be the best director or the most abstract, but he is good, and abstract pretty much died with Stanley Kubrick as we've seen so far. I was told Across the Universe was supposed to be that type of movie, but I also heard that it was hardly very outlying and remained subservient to those limited values. Bleh.

Anyway, tell me when you get to finish the movie.

2001 is good, but if you didn't pay attention, you would hate it because you'd think it was just random flashes of color and...things in fetal positions lying out in space. But, it was overall a good movie.

Now, you made a mistake by only seeing the first half of A Clockwork Orange, because the second half is what really envelops you in Alex's inner character, and the end basically establishes the whole "clockwork" them, but you wouldn't understand if you didn't watch the whole thing. Personally, I think it's better than 2001. As for the Shining...just meant to be a creepy movie, and it certainly was.

Really, it's a shame Stanley Kubrick isn't around anymore. I mean, subliminally abstract movies don't seem to exist anymore since he died.

Seems like a random comment, but nice list of bands, and great books on there, too. Do you watch a lot of Stanley Kubrick movies?

Anyway, I like your taste.
