Thank you, I like your avatar as well.

I really like the way how my avatar has nothing at all that matches on her, but it seems to flow =3

.

I've never been to the avatar talk before, maybe I should drop by once and awhile.

lol é quase, porque ha coisas diferentes . .

Firstly, please allow me to say that I love our essay questions and answers. It makes me feel so young again.

As for the double consciousness theory...

I cannot be sure. I've never heard of "double consciousness" in my entire life, therefore, I can only base my answer on what details you've given me. I do self-identify as a Bulgarian, and a Bulgarian living in America. And although I do take active participation in the American culture, I still identify as Bulgarian. Its is where I make my home, where I have my family and friends. America is where I live, not where I make my home. Not yet, anyway. I'm still debating whether or not to become a full-blown citizen of the United States or simply a permanent resident. Either way, I believe I can participate in the American culture without being absorbed by it and identify/be identified by/with it as a standalone culture. I've been embraced by two nations and am learning how to participate in the second nation without losing or replacing the first. On that note, neither do I believe that the cultures I am practicing are now separate. I have combined them into Bulgarian-American.

I do, however, believe that I have had and presently am picking up habits, lingo and traditions that I probably wouldn't have picked up back home. Still, I do not separate my Bulgarian "self" from my American "self" and split them into two separate consciousnesses. I believe that, like every other human being, I have changed and adapted to my environment. I do not categorize them as a different part of my self, simply part of my self. In the same way I am not the same being, personality-wise, that I was at 5 years old, I am not the same being that I was, personality-wise, that I was when I left Bulgaria. I've changed. Developed. Matured. And instead of sectioning-off these parts of me, they're all included into my central "self." When I visit Bulgaria, I don't lock away all of my American habits and hid them away. They are a part of me now. There is no "American" me and a "Bulgarian" me. There is simply "me," with all the different components and changes that define who I am.

And now, breakfast.
