Who I Am
My name's Jessamine, though most people call me Jem.I'm currently attending Normandale Community College for their Integrative Wellness program; Integrative Wellness is basically a combination of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) like Qigong and Tai Chi Chuan, Herbalism, Homeopathy, Chiropractics, Massage, Naturopathy, and Nutrition. I'm really excited about the program and learning how to be a better healer. Healing people and animals with energy medicine (Qigong and Reiki) and herbal/naturopathic medicine is one of my biggest passions-- if I can help someone be in less pain or heal from their injuries or diseases, I will.
My other big passion is music; I've been playing the Hammered Dulcimer since I was 11, and the 12-String Guitar since I was 13. I write a lot of my own songs and perform them at local venues, or while I'm busking (playing music for money) on the streets. I write a fair amount of poetry, too, often with a style of spoken word I picked up while I was living in San Francisco.
Speaking of which, even though I'm currently living in Minnesota, California is my home state; I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, but my parents moved write away to Millbrae, California, where I spent only enough time to fall in love with it before we came to THIS wintry place! I've been back several times, of course-- the longest was for about half a year, when I lived on the streets in San Fran, busking every day for enough money to get food and cigarettes and generally having a ******** awesome time.
I'm Transgendered and identify and as a Lesbian; basically what that means is I was born physiologically male and mentally female, meaning though I had-- um-- guy parts, I always felt I was a girl. I started transitioning to be a girl when I was 17, back in December of 2004. I'm happy to say that after hormone therapy, a new wardrobe, and a long time spent finding out who I really was, I'm happily settled in the female gender and pass (be perceived as biologically female) extremely well. I'm much, Much, MUCH more attracted to women than men (something like 97%/3%), so I identify as a lesbian. I drift between femme and punkish dyke, but I'm never ultra-femmy or butch.
I've recently picked up skateboarding, and though I'm not all that great at it, I have a hell of a lot of fun on my board (which has a nude woman on it, no less! ^^)
Thanks about it for me.
E-mail me (jem@nbtsc.org) or message me on AIM (dulcimerdancer) if you want to chat. I'm pretty easygoing and talkative. And hey, if you're between 18 and 26, female, lesbian or bisexual and want to chat... All the better. wink I hold no illusions as to the validity or success of online dating (or of Gaia to be a good site to date people on, either), but it's fun to flirt with someone you wouldn't mind flirting with in person.
Peace,
~Jem
