About
Biography:
Filia was a priestess of the first holy order under Flarelord. She obeyed the orders of the elders at her temple, and as a result, she had a rather naive and biased view of the world. Until she began traveling with Lina Inverse's party, Filia did not know of the barbaric acts of violence her race took part in around the time of the Koma War. Near the end of Slayers Try, she gave up her priestess position, and by the time the whole Dark Star Dugradigdu ordeal was over, she found that she was the last remaining follower of Flarelord, the rest of her clan having been destroyed.
Appearance:
Being a dragon, Filia has two bodies - her original golden dragon form, and the form we see most often, the young human woman. She can transform between these at will, but she does not enjoy transforming to dragon in front of other people, as it requires her to shed all her clothing in the process. Her dragon form is extremely large, and when she is in human form, she keeps her original weight and her tail, which pops out when she becomes angry or startled. She says that this is because she has yet to perfect her transformations. Even in human form, Filia retains her dragon magic and skills, such as holy spells and the ability to teleport herself and others over fairly long distances. She also carries a large mace on a garter belt attached to her leg; Lina has tried to lift it but could not hold it up.
Filia is the only main character (a permanent member of the traveling party) to not come from the manga/novels. She is original to the anime, as the third season was not based directly on events from the manga.
Personality:
Being a Golden Dragon, she has a huge sense of honor and is dedicated to "fulfulling her duties to the temple." She is annoyed to great extents by any monster who crosses her path. She carries a large mace (affectionately dubbed Mace-sama) in her garter, and uses it to end many of her arguments. Filia originally wanted Lina's big sister Luna to accompany her on her quest, but Luna retired and suggested Lina as a replacement.
Epilogue:
Filia, at the end of Slayers Try, accepts the egg of the reborn Valgaav in repentance of what her ancestors did to his kind. She then opens a vase and mace shop with the glowing see-through egg nestled in a warm basket with Gravos and Jillas as her assistants.
Xellos saves Filia's life during the battle with Valgaav
Relationships:
Out of all the characters, Filia is closest to Lina. They are good friends, even though they occasionally irritate each other. Filia became acquainted with Lina's sister, Luna Inverse, when she asked the Knight of Ceifeed to help her stop the impending doom. Instead of helping, Luna sent Filia to Lina, and the rest is history. Filia does not like how Lina and the others tend to forget about their responsibilities when a good meal or the opportunity to make money comes along.
Filia always felt sympathy for Valgaav. After all, it was her race who slaughtered his. She accepted his hatred and contempt for her, and she wanted nothing more than for him to be content with himself and the world. In the end of Slayers Try, he was reborn as a pure ancient dragon, and she became his caretaker.
Filia is the only being capable of annoying Xellos. Even though he tries to be polite to her, she continues to insult him and call him names like Raw Garbage (namagomi). Her hatred towards him comes from the fact that he killed many dragons during the Koma Wars 1000 years ago. By the end of the series, they learn to tolerate each other and are capable of having at least one decent conversation. Although they do not consider themselves friends, they are a popular pairing among some Slayers fans since their behavior is very similar to that of other anime love/hate couples such as the pairings in Ranma 1/2 and Love Hina.
