Dear Drakie,

Boy Chaucer practically devoured that last card you sent me. He must miss you almost as much as I do. I can't wait to see you! Got loads to tell you! Toralei and I figured out a way to help you with your stage fright but it's a surprise! I know you just love hearing those words from me. Trust me on this!

A shame you weren't able to get a photo of the mers, but its just as well. Mom told me the merfolk can be pretty uppity about their photos being taken without express permission, or disturbing their partying in the waves. I wish I could have seen them. Darn this water allergy! Just thinking about them makes me miss, well it just kinda gets me, you know?

Did you find out where this Kai goes to school or lives? Maybe you can keep in contact. He hasta pass the Glen inspection first though! Nobody is too good for my Drakie!

I don't know if this postcard will reach you in time, but you better get home quick. I went to check on Chaucer again and...there were pages strewn everywhere! Empty spines scattered about! I tried to figure out where they were all from. There were bits from The Count of Moante Cristo, The Picture of Dorian Groan, Zastrozzombie and Jane Eerie. I'm not sure, but I think there was some of Wereoliver Twist too. I fear the worst.

I understand that relationships long distance can't really work out. I've had past experience. But at least you can still contact him, I may go down there this summer for the first time. But my parents are scared i'll run off with some guy. I'm glad that you had a wonderul time there, and that you made new friends, but I miss my bestest dragon ghoul. I can't wait to see you tomorrow, i'll take you to a spa when i find the money. You tottally need some R&R after a long vaca and trip back home. Maybe....if i can....my dad can talk to my uncle, i'll get Kai to come for spring break, but it's gonna take alot more than hopin and wishin'. Can't wait to see you tomorrow.

You'll never guess what! He is related to me! Kai is related to me! His dads my dads long distant brother! He's part of my normie family! But i've never been to skull shores to visit. I asked my dad abolut his long distant brother, but didn't know much. Apparently theres alot of special roots and herbs that grow near skull shores and I tried to look him up in the phone book but I don't have one for skull shores. I want to find out more about him, but....you like my cousin?! Thats so sweet but kinda weird at the same time. I love that your enjoying your time here, and i hope that you do something for just one last hurrah. Thats what vacations are all about isn't it?

Dear Draconia,

My sisters have been arguing all night, I have had to shut myself up in my room to avoid it. It seems someone took someone else's sweater and may have stretched out the wing holes and now everyone thinks they're Holmes and will figure out who, except Aello, who think it's Minerva. Minerva is always borrowing things without asking. I wish I was at Skull Shores with you, your mystery is much more exciting than mine and has the benefit of a cute boo. My sisters are fine, but sometimes I just want to pick a direction and keep on flying! I'm not used to being at home all the time, this time last year I was with my Auntie Mizuchi and we practiced tea ceremonies. Very quiet and serene.

So what do Kai look like? Is he a good dresser, is he covered in paint all the time or is that not the kind of art he does, and does he draw on his clothes at all because I used to do that I'm not very good and it always washes out unless you use a special paint, maybe he draws on his shoes? Lot's of monsters do that but if he's an artist I'll bet his shoes look clawsome. You'll have to tell me all about him, or whatever he wants because maybe he's a private person because it sounds that way, although surely this doesn't extend to what kind of haircut he has.

PPS. I have continued to check in on Chaucer. Someone has given him a copy of The Ghouls of Wrath and he's gone quite round and melancholic. I'm trying to give him the Secret Garden by Fang-ces Hauntson Burnett to settle his digestion.

I've tried to stay inside as much as I can dispite the invites for epic outside snowball fights. I'm trying to reserch as much as I can for you about my relatives as I can. I've passed by a few names and most live in the Atlantic. Since you recommended the name, i'll try to reserch what I can for you. I've found out that I do have a cousin that lives in the Atlantic and hibernates to Skull Shores for the winter, but I have no idea what his name is. Theres alot of stuff i'm trying to figure out about my past, Jackie tries to help and does help out alot, but i'm not sure how much i've lost since it was only a year ago my parents told me they adopted me, and kept my mermaid-ness a secret. Winter is fun, but staying inside with a warm cup of cocoa and fuzzy socks feels much nicer, i'll try to find out as much as I can for a great ghoulfriend. smile

I hope this letter doesn't give you so much trouble. That was my fault. Mom warned me about casting spells when I was hyped up on Red Ghoul. I guess she was right. Who knew?

Drakie has a boyfriend! Drakie has a boyfriend! Now that I got the obligatory teasing out of the way, he sounds dreamy! All those monsters wrapped into one package! And an artist to boot! Don't let that one get away! I can't wait to see those mer-scales. I love the way they shine in the sun. And for the record, I love the way your scales shine in the sun. You can't blame that kid for trying to capture it when you were flying.

Speaking of you flying, w00t! You go ghoul! Glen's proud of you! It'll get easier with time. Now that you had a taste, I bet you can't wait for me to give you another lesson! It'll be my pleasure!

When you get back we have to have a looooooong talk about Manny! He's the biggest bully in school and I don't trust him. He needs tutoring like I need a hole in the head. Hm, weird. Mom just started laughing for no good reason.

I wish I could tottally be there with you, the coldness is killing me! Jackie seems not to be bothered by how cold it is, but it's not good for my skin, and alot of monsterizer is what is what I have to use. Sadly sad But i've never heard of Demona having a relative living there, but I may have a relative living there. Going back into my reserch of my family history, I think I may have a cousin or sometime of relative that lives there. I'll reserch for you if you'd like. Building snowmen and having intense snowball fights are fun and all, but warm sun and cool water is something that I would die for! I hope your winter romance works out. I'll give you information about my relatives in my next letter.

Dear Draconia,

It sounds like you've gone during quite a dead spell! There's usually always a few island boys living there, maybe they're vacationing too. You could try going to Mr. Moaalii's café, The Bottomless Cup. There might be a few people there, and even if not Mr. Moaalii is very interesting to talk to (but talk loud because he's gone a little hard of hearing in his old age. He sees just about everyone on the island so maybe he knows something.

This sounds like quite the mystery! I was just reading something like this in one of the monga my sister gave me, Detective Haruhi Suzi about a girl who solves mysteries for the ghosts that live in the town that she transferred to under mysterious circumstances herself. There's a ghost boy who may or may not exist and may or may not be a ghost that she might be seeing in her dreams only in the dreams he's good but in all the town legends he's evil, not that I'm suggesting your mysterious artist is evil or anything I'm sure he's just shy because you did mention he was drawing and those artist types, they can be a little into themselves, but not in a narcissistic way! Just, you know, shy.

Oh I really wish I had been able to go with you ghouls! I love the sun and the scenery of Skull Shores. Heck if it wasn't for the water it'd be the perfect howliday retreat! Chaucer is fine. He sends his love. If you could see the bite marks on your card, you'd see just how much he's thinking of you. Actually he's more than fine. He's a hungry little devil, isn't he? A little finicky too. I tried giving him a copy of Spectra's column for a mid-afternoon snack and he turned his nose up at it. Go figure. He did seem to have a liking for mom's new copy of Spells For All Seasons. Going to have to explain that one. Maybe I can let him play in mom's library before your trip is over. Keep in touch! I want all the beach gossip!

Dear Draconia,

I'm glad you're enjoying Skull Shores! You should find the time to go to the Haunted Lagloom, it's the height of butterfly season and you're going to see all kinds of amazing things! There's the butterflys of course and the jewel frogs which are these tiny little frogs with stunningly colored eyes and of course there's the ghosts of all the butterflies that came before and on a good day the island boys will try and see how far down they can swim to get ghost pearls to impress girls. I suggest on days like that you wear something that would look good with pearls and maybe brings some extra drinks with you because pearl diving is thirsty work. It's polite. Remember to wear lots of mos-screech-o repellent too, those bites are THE WORST and there's really no way to get through them except to endure and never never feed them after midnight.

This year the family decided to stay home instead of trying coordinate a trip, it's a miracle (most) everyone made it here! Mother has been cooking for days and drafting any of my sisters who get near enough to the kitchen to help, so I've been in my room with Ocypete most of the time. She's going to try to get mother to let me go skiing with her! I'm so excited, I already have the cutest parka picked out.

My howliday break is going wonderful, but it's FREEZING!!! Jack is doing great and got me a brand new ring! He's a wonderful guy, and i'm glad he's here. I hope that you break is going fangtastic, and that your having a wonderful time. Abbey and Jackson love having snowball fights down here, while Demona and I sit inside and drink cococa. She misses Holt and purposley turns up the themostat just to see him, it gets really hot in her house! I hope I can see ya around before school starts again. Send me some pictures, okay?
