I never heard about that, but I can see where that stems from. I seem to remember there being some kind of IM system on here at one point too? I think they've moved it to some kind of gadget in Gaia Labs now, but I really don't get the point of the whole IM thing on here. Most people most likely use MSN, Yahoo, AIM, Facebook Chat or some other form of instant messenger, plus making friends on here isn't exactly easy, so it's like.. who actually uses it?!

I think you're right there, especially since it's expected that if you take a criminology course or something equally similar, then you're going to go into that kind of career field too, which basically means that the negative stuff follows you around for pretty much the rest of your life. It's like being a policeman and seeing dead bodies - that kinda stuff is never really going to fade away from your memory.

There's bound to be some kind of reasoning behind why the government did that though. Maybe they get some kind of tax on the money given to the universities (does tax even apply to university fees?) plus still get the full amount that was loaned paid back over time from the student. Because the fees are higher it'd mean they'd get more money from the taxing and therefore benefit from the whole loan thing. I don't actually know, but it's gotta be something that means they make money in the long-run.

You're right. The whole discussion part becomes redundant. On top of that it makes it harder to get to know people or converse, because most of them will have already had their say and moved on. I remember back in the older Gaia days when people used to actually hang around a thread and talk with people; these days it's all hit-and-run.

Haha, I know right!? On top of that, it's not exactly healthy learning about why criminals do the things they do in such depth. Your mind just becomes stuck in this rotting gutter filled with murder and rape and all this other really nasty stuff. I'll never understand how people can leave work at work and just shut off and enjoy their free time.

I agree. They gotta bring in thousands of students every year, and each one of those students are paying thousands of pounds every year.. that's a hell of a lot money. It's kinda silly too, cause the majority of students pay for their fees using the Student Loans Company, which is a government-funded company, so the government is essentially paying out more and more money per year because of the higher fees. And there's me thinking we're in a recession.
