Det. Michael Sloan of the Durem Police Department is an oddity on the force. Known for his bad temper, gruff nature, and bluntness Det. Sloan works alone, to the relief of his fellow detectives. While Det. Sloan's methods are frowned upon by his superiors, his results are hard to argue with. Haunted by a checkered past, Det. Sloan has a bad habit of spending his off-duty time, and some of his on-duty time, in local bars in Durem, and other Gaian towns.
