Listening to the little redhead, whose voice was so weak that it caused the snake to frown in displeasure. Not only that, the other spoke and he never directly said that the other was allowed to. Standing up, he brushed the material off on his clothing before grabbing one of the bars and pulled the cage up and over roughly with a loud thud.

Anyone else would have needed help to do that, but Hei-Ying. Hei-Ying was absolutely perfect. Father made sure to make him perfect. Strong, and smart, a sharp tongue and knew how to calculate revenge.

"Now, now...." he said, leaning over the bars and rested his arms and elbows over the cage to watch the other while keeping a bored look on his face. His sleeves were neatly placed behind the flat part of the bars so there was no hope of the little 'rat' of trying to pull him down and into the bars. "Father said you were doing better today..... but he told me to check up on you..... I wonder...."

Well, that took care of one day. Honestly, with all the noise that the red head specimen made he was amazed he didn't have a worse migraine than he already had. Of course, father told him to make sure their little 'lab rat' was still alive and kicking after the many rigorous tests. Hei just couldn't say no, literally. The part of him that didn't want to do it was shut off, but he did have his free will. He could interpenetrate 'checking to see if he was alive' any way he wanted.

So here Hei-Ying was, in the back of the lab where the cages and other 'rats' were kept only to check on one in particular. This child, much like Kouichi had been when he was still a lad was small.... Only.... this one seemed older than the ever whining Kouichi.

"You are much quieter now...." he said leaning down to see the cage, balancing on the pads of his foot, his jade hanfu scattered around him gracefully. "It's about time.... I was getting tired of hearing you screaming...."
