Ouch, that hurts. I think that's more during the early school years when people reject friendships because of the outer appearance.
Journeying on into life as an adult, I think people grow not to judge others based on looks. People shouldn't select friends based on physical appearance. It's the personality that matters.
Those few people who told you, You are not as bad as you think. Don't leave." do sound really genuine to me.
I don't think you're pushing away others on purpose. Sometimes negative thoughts arises and you feel unworthy being around others.
Why be different? Being you is enough already smile

How do you usually deal with or enjoy your own company?
Companions come and go & that's part of life. I used to have some friends who I really used to be closed to back then. Eventually, we grew apart. I can't straight up ask them to be friends again. That's ridiculous. I understand they all have their own priorities now and new interests in life. I just hope there's a few I can hang onto and cherish them for choosing to stick by my side. Friendship lasting for a lifetime would be something special.
It's not your fault, Cherri.
It's just majority of those people don't think the same way as you do, don't have similar interests or they don't find it appealing.
