A snowy lane encrusted with ice. Your breath is visible

as you inhale the sharp December air, chilling your lungs

as you exhale a mass of fog. Scarf around your neck, hat on snuggly

and gloves covering your shaking fingers, a single snow flake

drifts to your cheek. Melting in a quick second, it dissapears into a small

drop of water and slides down your face. Shivering with cold on the outside,

a warmness from inside keeps you light mooded on this day as you look up

to see the first snow of the year. Many dots of white block your vision as

tears continuously fall. Not salt tears, tears of melted snow

and a blanket of plain snow is laid down on this icy lane.

Burning... From inside to out.

Tearing at your delicate heart

sputtering and screaming. Rage

swims through fiery veins as a

feeling of emptyness begins to come over you...

Drenching the flickering flames back into hiding

and as you look up, you realize all is lost

and gone. The only remains,

a broken heart.

Yes, and then I would walk around it to continue life,

with a reason to live. Searching for that thing I simply threw aside...

But I would be led forward by curiosity and a glow to light my path.

Fear and despair hide in the shadows of a human heart...

Waiting to strike when we turn the other way, when we forget that

only we, ourselves have the power to feel happy or sad.

When we forget our own power and wait for others to cheer us up inside,

is when we will truly fall victim to our own shadows. Our fear, despair,

boredom, and loneliness....
