Transexuality, yes, there is, but then again, what manga can you pick up these days that you don't get that? Ever look at DNAngel XD AS is really no worse than that in terms of transexuality. There is only one single "normal" transexual (I mean normal as how is typically defined) but a lot of characters are... well, take Setsuna for example. He's the guy main character. However, his soul is that of a female angel that everyone is hoping to "reawaken". While he is Setsuna, the manga states that it is Alexiel's soul. One line in the 3rd volume even reads "I had a rough idea why Alexiel was so reluctant to awaken. It's because Alexiel didn't WANT it to happen. Alexiel doesn't want to awake. She wants to remain human..."



Oh, of course, then there's the normal shounen-ai present in nearly all manga series as well.



Honestly, though, you can't pick up this series thinking the author is trying to make any sort of a statement. She is just writing something to have fun with it - and you even have her tell you so in her side columns in each chapter. XD She hates narcissistic girl-men yet she makes him into the story's main enemy and then makes several comments about how much she just adores drawing this character. She loves giving him rose-petal baths - and dressing him up in girl clothes even though he ISN'T transexual.



It's a FUN series that is just great to read. I spent half the series anxious to see what the next outfit was that Rosiel was going to appear wearing.



Oh and did I mention the many TWISTS? Ever read Harry Potter series? It's like that x3. >_> God this woman is good.

Hey, thanks for the comment on my journal! And, you really should pick up Angel Sanctuary. You might be able to get into it. However, just keep in mind that there is some incest in it. -_- Nobody wants to give it a chance based on that, but the story is so much more and by the end of vol 3, your perception of the story becomes so messed up that the incest thing quickly vanishes. ^_^ Besides, you SO remind me of the character named Kira.
